well its true , its all over the net ,and i just got a call from a good source / friend in dublin who works for the star, dunne wont fight for the belt under any circumstances unless its in dublin

Dunne did turn down the shot but the good news is ,he has 2 bums lined up over the next couple of months both shot fighters

my source says estham pickering defo looks like coming to dublin to fight bernard

a pointless fight as estham pickering i think has lost his last 2 fights or more and has nothing to offer

although they did offer munroe twice the amount for the fight to be in dublin that they were offered by him for the fight to be in the uk according to:

It's clear Maloney's offer must have been quite poor if Dunne was able to offer over twice that to get the fight in Dublin. It's merely a case that the fight doesn't make money over there and is a waste of two of Europe's best at the weight fighting.

Looking at how things have progressed over the past few months I don't think Maloney ever seriously wanted to get Munroe the Dunne fight. This will be confirmed if Sean Hughes or another poor fighter gets the voluntary against Munroe over guys like Maludrottu, Matthew Marsh, Paulie Hyland or Commonwealth champion(who is inegibile for the European title) Anyetei Laryea.

Hughes or one of the 3 Italians would be confirmation that Maloney is trying to look big while thinking small.

Anyway should Kiko Martinez or anyone else beat Munroe in the time frame then I'm sure things would drastically change.

Personally I feel that unless munroe is matched against someone of the calibre you are mentioning then he will lose, I really feel he is limited in the extreme, I even think that Walstad could do a number on him, it would be very interesting to see Hyland get a craic but im not sure he is rated high enough

Carlos I hope you don't mind but I changed your thread title to EBU rather than EU as EBU is the actual European belt(held by Munroe) and the EU title is a lower level held by Frenchman Jeremy Parodi.

Paulie was the highest ranked fighter in the EU rankings not in the EBU rankings last month. He's gotten a win since then but the opponent was a journeyman so it's possible he could enter the EBU ratings at #13. It's a shame his original opponent(Sandie Kizito) wasn't the guy to fight him as that would of increased his chances.

Anyway the EBU don't release rankings until the month is gone so August rankings come in September and so on. If Maloney requested Hyland as an opponent I think it's likely they'd accept and put him in their published rankings for September even if they hadn't planned to put him there before the fight. Sanctioning bodies always like to keep the promoter happy, it's how they make money.

Actually I'd like to see Walstad challenge Munroe next. I think his effort against Dunne was creditable enough and a fight with Munroe would tell us a little bit more about him and I think the styles would make for a good scrap too. It would also be quite funny to see Maloney's face if Walstad won!

That would be great as he seems a nice chap (not that Munroe doesn't) but I dont think he can do it, I think as the smaller fighter he would have huge trouble with Munroe.

Just thinking about the title of this thread(and the title are words that have come from Frank Maloney's mouth) it means a lot more than it originally shows.

A mandatory defence of the European title comes up every 9 months(in or around) and yet Maloney claims Dunne will have to wait 18 months. So basically Maloney is saying he's not going to face his next mandatory after Martinez(probably Simeone Maludrottu) until he is forced to and will continue making voluntary defenses against fighters ranked lower than #3 in Europe should he succesfully defend against Martinez.

Maloney has already put the Martinez fight off as long as he can and has tried to get as many voluntaries as possible in the mean time.

I really really hope its not Pickering. He beat him when he was a decent fighter and was at the end of or more likely just past his peak. Either way it was a good win. I think he has declined since as he lost to Hughes and Marsh and didnt look right. No interest in this fight.

I fully understand the politics of boxing and the money matters etc; but surely if Peter's and Dunne want to be taken seriously, why don't they for one single bout, take a pay cut and take the title from Rendall. They can then make a heap of cash defending it in Dublin. I don't buy it for a second to be honest. One single fight and you are back to having a European champ. What is really stopping them?

Maloney gave them the offer and if Dunne really wants to regain the title, then go regain it. He has IMO a bit of a cheek to be turning down this. Remember, he lost the title so badly, and as the saying goes, 'beggars can't be choosers.'

Agreed he should just take the fight. People are starting to get disinterested in Dunne because he is just fighting nobodies. We were all following him before as we wanted him to go to the top.
To be honest I don't expect much out of him anymore

I'm afraid the jig is up with bernard. if he wants people to continue to line his pockets he'll have to give value for money and the likes of esham pickering isn't gonna cut it.

He should take the munroe fight and show some desire for the game. Go over there and bring the belt back.

Instead he expects the fight to come to him. It smacks of arrogance and money hungryness. He doesn't care about achieving anything any more, just money.

The irony is, he is behaving like a bad landlord who doesn't renovate or repair his house and just keeps moving new tennants in and collecting rent, eventually people stop paying for the crappy house and the landlord can't get anyone in anymore.

It's one of the 3 Italians, he's fighting Fabrizio Trotta next. An even easier opponent than Matirosian.

The word going round is that Peters offered €100,000 for Munroe to come to Dublin and Maloney offered €40,000 for Dunne to come to England. Maloney is denying that Peters' offered this much and saying it was only €40,000, however he didn't deny that Peters' had offered over twice as much and agreed Peters' offer was a very good one. Yet he claimed he had offered Dunne a substantial offer. So if Peters' had offered €40,000 how much did Maloney offer ?, €20,000 ?, less ?

I still agree that Dunne should of gone over for short money but it is clear here that Maloney doesn't really want a fight with Dunne. He wants to squeeze everything he can out of that title belt. Salem Bouaita was actually a mandatory for Munroe so Munroe has 9 months from then to fight his next mandatory. So we won't be seeing Munroe v Martinez till February.

Should Munroe defeat Martinez again I think we'd be looking at Sean Hughes + two more defenses before a World title fight. If Michael Hunter looks poor on his return he'll probably be one, Pickering might be another.
It's all speculation but that looks the route he's headed for.

Anyway the story with Dunne is Peters' is looking for a much more ambitious and dangerous fight. Julio Zarate, #3 by the IBF and recently lost an Eliminator for the title. Word going round is Peters' wants Dunne to fight Zarate and should he win look for Molitor after that in Dublin around March.

That Zarate guy looks like a good fight for Dunne on paper. Was just gonna say isnt it time they announced the next opponent.
Great news if they are the plans. Bernard should have a crack at a world title while he has the chance
