    Typical student...short of cash!!
    I'm going to d.i.t and i've applied for numerous jobs on jobs.ie but i haven't got any replied!!!
    I think the fault lies with my job experience! I' ve worked with my father for I don' t know how long and I have to use him as a reference.
    I believe employers look past my C.V. because of the obvious positive bias my reference would have and my lack of ''real'' experience!!

    So basically I want to know if there is any work in the city centre, part-time in retail or in bars etc. and more important still is there anyone willing to give me a job at anything to be honest!!!

    im 17 aswell and not 18 til nxt march and am starting in dit this thurs.

    so i was wondering hw u got dis id and if u cud giv me the 'makers' bebo or number so i cud get one aswell. i wil pay wateva the price is i dnt mind...... i want t be able t go out in the nit and jst av da id on me incase im asked......

    Ignoring previous babble and back to the original question. When I was in college I mainly worked in shops, responding to signs in windows or just handing in a CV ad hoc. Also have you tried the supermarkets as they're often taking on students part time for shelf-stacking and checkout work.

    Have you tried printing off a stack of CVs and walking around your local shops/city centre and handing them out everywhere? Not sure how it'd go down in the current climate but it's worth a try :)

    Couple of options -

    McDonalds
    Burger King
    Dunnes
    Tesco

    Try the call centres as well - they nearly always need evening and weekend staff, e.g. Eircom tech support, O2 customer service, PTSB customer service, etc.

    I worked in tech support during college and it was sweet.

    hi,

    have you ever considered dealing poker tournaments. There are countless around dublin with festivals all around the country. The jackpot card room is 2 mins walk from dit aungier st.

    I work with <snip> and do dealer training if you are interested. Usual rates at poker tournaments is 10e an hour + tips, so it works out as 12-13 euro an hour at most dublin pub games, would be more in a casino.

    also, if you were to work festivals depending on the type of games you learn to deal it can range up to as high as 25 euro an hour (17 an hour basic + tips) though this is 2-4 times a year.
