I used to have one on 350D, worked great, but not as nice as the canon one

i have one on my nikon D200, i got it for €50 but i still think i paid too much (!!!) the stability is not great, you can't use it with a tripod under it as there is too much flex in it, the surface finish is not very ergonomic and the thing generally feels really cheap. Also, unlike the official nikon grip on this one you have to switch from one battery to the other using a switch, not the best solution.

Thinking of getting a grip for my D80, if it's just down to looks I'd go for the best deal, although Nikon might be cheaper from HK

The stability would be a issue, thanks

I bought a YXTM ND80S on Ebay over a year ago for my D80 and its very good. Has 2 command dials and vertical shutter button. Takes 2 batteries and automatically changes batteries. Can't fault it and it is better than the Hahnel grip on my D70S.

I had one on my 350D. Worked ok but was obviously a third party grip. It didnt match the camera, was more plastic and had no shutter release. The new ones for 40D etc look better and have more features like shutter release button and remote control but when I was buying a grip for the 40D I went with the canon one.

I had one for a D50, I'd say ok sums it up, not bad, not great. My one seemed to have issues with how much battery life was left, sometimes showing nearly empty and on the next presss of the shutter, showing nearly full battery!

I liked the way it bulked up the camera and it felt nice in the hand, and can't say I ever had a stability issue on a tripod.

But I will be going for the real deal Nikon grip for my D300 when I get around to it. You pays your money etc.:)
