Not sure if it's alternative or experimental but my god, how good is this band!?

Got into them just in the last month and have gotten 'Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven', 'Yanqui U.X.O.' and 'F# A# Infinity' and it's all fantastic.

If you like Mogwai, you'll like these guys. It's like if Mogwai did 20/25 minute compositions. Epic stuff. Any fans in here?

I'm a Godspeed fan. I got a bit tired of post-rock a few years ago but I think these guys transcend all that of that and I still have great time for them. I really, really like "Lift Your Skinny Fists" in particular. If you like Godspeed make sure you check out Stars Of The Lid (and not as similar but still in the same vein: Explosions In The Sky and Do Make Say Think).

You might also enjoy God is an Astronaut. They are probably best described as post-rock ambient electronica type band thingy. Excellent band to see live as they sinc visuals to their music. Check out 'Suicide Star' when you open the link.

I often wanted to get this bands CDs but kept forgetting about them...a friend recommended them to me once, saying they were a bit like early Pink Floyd, who I love....not sure if thats an accurate comparison..
If they're anything like Mogwai/Sigur Ros then I'll defo be a fan!:)

Lift Your Skinny Fists is my favourite of theirs.

Saw them live years back and they were fantastic. One of the best gigs I have ever been to.

There's LOADS of band authorised bootlegs on the Internet Live Music Archive for free download.

And if you want more in the same vein then look no further than most of the stuff on the Constellation record label. Most, if not all, the releases feature at least one member of Godspeed in the band. A Silver Mt. Zion is the closest to Godspeed, it being a smaller version of Godspeed with vocals (and thoroughly ****ing awesome). I'd recommend their albums immediately (and again they have loads of live recordings for free on the same site listed above)

GodSpeed are fantastic! I love them for long bus journeys, just sit back and relax! A Silver Mt Zion are great too, similar music but with vocal.

    +1 excellent band

Godspeed were great. You should def check out a band called Yndi Halda if you haven't already. We Flood Empty Lakes in particular is one of the most powerful songs i've ever heard.

You can actually download a fair few songs (some not entirely) from their website.

i've been a big fan for a good few years now.

a band that really walk the wallk (as well as talking the talk). what with their anarchist tendencies and the fact that they live in a real squat.
