Is review week just mid term break in October? Like off for the week? I'd appreciate a quick reply as I want to book a holiday :D

lecturers will attend classes as normal on review week.

no new material will be covered.

but they will cover material from the previous weeks and any other questions you'll have.

i've found that i'm always in college on reading week as there is always an assignment due during or the week after.

I've only gone in a couple of times on review week, once when a lecturer set an exam and once when there was a group project due after. Other than that I stayed at home and did any projects there.

    bambi,

lecturers may have stuff scheduled for review week. If it's an exam and you're away you're in trouble. Probably won't happen in first year. The week is really really useful for literally reviewing what has been done to date in that week. Hence, review week. It cuts down on work over christmas, too.

So yeah, book your holiday if you want but my god you better have a good time on it cos you'll be regretting it at christmas otherwise. The official policy of DIT says "Review Week to be used either for revision, reading, field visits, lectures, interim tests, formative assessment feeback etc." To translate : Don't go away; study.

Be it at your own risk to go away. You might regret it this time next year when you're waiting on results from semester 1 repeats.

In my course we have at least 2 things every review week between either tests or assignments.

I know some people have had to repeat because they missed somethings in review week. Which was ridiculous. They had a test the day after Halloween.

    Thanks for the replies.
So hold off on booking the holiday til I start college and ask one of the lecturers about it or what?
Like I dont want to miss out on tests etc

yeah hold off on it. Ask a lecturer but don't expect a particularly favourable response. They're hardly gonna be happy about students being already more concerned with the social life and free time than with college.

Its okay, I sorted everything out. I emailed my course director and explained about having a family wedding that week and he responded saying that I dont need to be in college that week. Its just time to get assignments done etc
