It's not being released in the cinema. It was a pilot episode for the new series that'll be starting soon enough. And I don't care what anyone says, it's going to be the greatest show ever. FACT!

I watched the "movie". It was made much like the BSG mini-series: a backdoor pilot for a full season TV series. Unfortunately, that is where the BSG comparison ends.

The writing is fairly weak, failing to build any tension between characters. The lead actors are fairly weak also. This could probably be forgiven, as the original was always about KITT, but the fact they can't get that right was the final straw for me. The 1980s show turned the Trans-Am into a cult car along with the Delorean and dodge charger, I can't see the Shelby Mustang reaching the same heights. While the "two-thousand" was a slice of future that captured my imagination as a child, the "three-thousand" looks more like something from the pages of max power. A lot of the toys that seemed so exotic in the 80s are now seen on cars these days (well, maybe not the super pursuit mode) and Val Kilmer just doesn't give KITT the personality he deserves. Add to that the constant "bullet time" effect they do of the car's regenerative armour (I can see that piece of footage being used more than the original Galactica's viper launch sequence) and this show smacks of a cheap effort to cash in on the 80s nostalgia.

Anyway, sorry to turn your thread into a bit of a rant, but this show is from the same school of unoriginality as "the bionic woman" and "sarah connor chronicles" which failed to escape from their original roots and create something for contemporary audiences to relate to (which BSG obviously does).

Oh, the chase scenes are lame too. If Batman begins showed one thing its that nothing can replace the feeling of a full speed pursuit. Here we are left with maybe half or quarter speed chases, cut faster than a pussycat dolls video with some shaky cam thrown in too.

    Give it a miss!

This probably belongs in the tv forum. I didn't watch it all but what I saw was pretty awful. Avoid at all costs.

    :D:D:DHilarious!!

Seriousely, thanks for your replies though, I absolutely love the show (I also think its the best show on Earth!!:o) but would nearly cry if it didn't live up to its expectations in Cinema/on DVD.

Guess I will give it a miss then, and hopefully the series will be back on one of the Sky channels sometime in the near future:)

Why would a TV show pilot and an awful one to boot be screened in a cinema?

It's actually worth a look. It's EXACTLY the same style of show as the original series. I think that's what most people have a gripe against. Shows today rely too much on proper writing, good acting and well thought out scenarios. This show doesn't need any of that!

    Hehehe...I like that!

You just won't be deterred will you?

If they bring back super pursuit mode, it might just sway my opinion (hence saving the show!).

Oh, right, forgot to say. I'm assuming that when the show is aired, they'll start of with the pilot again. It all depends on whether or not an Irish channel will buy the show. TV3 buy any old shìte though, so it should be on some time over the next few months.

Haha, i can't believe you actually reviewed this!

It's knight rider, knight rider don't need no 'views maaaan.

I know I know. it wasnt a review so much as trying to save others who went in with some hope of a decent revival of the beloved 80s show. There is just nothing to distinguish this show from so much of the crap that is churned out by studios for a season (if they are lucky to make it that far).
