Just wondering if anyone has any advice about this crowd www.independentcolleges.ie Anyone studying with them etc? The full time courses seem a bit light in content, around 20 hours per week, would a degree from this college be recognised as an equal to another college?

There are different grades you can get in degrees. Its the exact same HETAC BA degree you get from any college, it just depends how much work you put in. Im thinking of doing the BA Journalism in there, so I hope its a good place:)

I'm doing the BA Journalism there next year (2009). I researched all the different colleges, and I don't think the content is any lighter here than anywhere (it's much more than in a couple of the other colleges). I went in and spoke to them, and all of the classes are very focused on journalism, which is why I chose this college - it seemed that in some other journalism degrees you do lots of classes on things that aren't really about journalism. I think they're owned by the Independent newspaper, because they have internships at the Irish and Sunday Independents. I couldn't find any other college that had internships for BA students like this, so that was another reason I chose them. Obviously I'm not starting till next year but I've seen their building and met some of the staff, and they seem to have a really good set up.
