Merriman opts for surgery

Chargers LB Shawn Merriman has decided to go ahead and have the season ending surgery that was recommended by doctors, prior to the start of the season..

Merriman played against the Panthers on Sunday, but wasn't as effective as usual and didn't have a sack.

It looks as though the AFC playoff contenders have some sort of injury jinx, the Patriots lost Tom Brady, the Chargers have now lost Shawn Merriman, the Jaguars have lost at least 3 offensive linemen and the Titans QB Vince Young was also injured. The Colts better wrap Peyton Manning in cotton wool !

Huge blow for the Chargers as they sucked balls on Sunday gone. And Indie might want to give Peyton a Riot shield and a Tank in the bankground as support.

Hardly surprising. It would be a huge risk to play this season especially when the chargers wont re-sign him.

True he was stupid to even considering playing in the first place.

He's made the right decision, not worth causing long term damage!
