kml Using Google MAP

Hey all,

Any idea if i can open .kml files in google map. For some reason google earth hangs my pc but google maps is fine.

You can open kml and kmz files, but like all google map files you have to upload the file to online webspace.... offline files cannot be linked.

Have you got webspace online?? Just upload files, http://www.yourspace.com/test.kml

Setup free websapce at:
http://sites.google.com/
http://www.000webhost.com/

Plenty of others out there, then upload the files and go to maps.google.com and add in your link like above.

I;m sorry i don't understand. How can i use these sites to open a kml file in Google Map?

Upload your files to webspace.

I have an account with 000webhost.com and uploaded kml files to it.

Once thats done there's two things you can do:

Goto maps.google.com
And enter the address of the file location in your online web hosting account and select search maps

or

Link Google maps directly to the file in a link so you can share with friends or whoever:

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=http://lgcsb.890m.com/county.kml

(The above link works btw)

http://lgsb.890m.com is my webspace. Created from 000webhost.com

So if/when you upload files to a webspace you can link to them by copying:

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=

and entering your link to the file after it.

So you're final link should look like:

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=http://mywebspace.google.com/testing.kml
