    Good Morning,

I recently moved within the company I work for from the desktop support team to the IT security and Governance team. There is no shortage of reading material for me to familiarise myself with but I do not have a security/governance qualification under my belt as yet and this is something I'd like to achieve.

There are plenty of options open to me in this area and some that require a certain amount of experience. I would like to eventually do something like the CISA (we have the CBT's) but given it's emphasis on experience there is little point in doing it just now. Other options i'm considering are Cisco's Information Security Specialist and the Security + .

Would any one recommend an alternative course? I'd prefer self study as a method of training so if you could suggest material along with your recommendation that would be very helpful.

    Thank you,
    Alan:cool:

I have been working full time in Security for the last 8 years. I can recommend sans.org as a good provider of vendor agnostic security training. www.sans.org

They have a large range of courses online and live events. I would recommend a live event as you get the whole immersion thing and meet other people in security.
