Just came back from seeing this. Wow, what a film. Guy Ritchie can still pull one out of the bag. Personally I thought it was better than Snatch, but not as good as Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Anyone else seen it yet?

Yeah saw it at the weekend, & enjoyed it quite a lot, though i thought it was more comedy than anything else

one thing i didnt like was
the message at the end telling to look out for the sequel

It was good alright. Definitely comedy orientated but I enjoyed that aspect of it. Had it taken itself too seriously I doubt it would have been as engaging.

Saw it last night and really enjoyed it! Sequel should be interesting - if well done I have no problems with it at all :) Some great one-liners, moments and characters in it!

Absolute trash, by paying for this tosh - he's going to make another, probably in line with Swept Away or Revolver (both crimes against cinema)

Really should have walked out (as some people did), but I wanted to be sure it had no redeeming qualities.

It's just another rehashed wideboy landan geezerfest, but if you liked Lock Stock or Snatch - you'll probably like this, which isn't really an inspiring compliment.

Someone posted up here yesterday about a protest against Disaster Movie, but I think this is a bigger injustice. Guy Ritchie is a terrible writer & director, and for a posh boy to churn out this after his last two films - smacks of appealing to the lowest common denominator of intellect.

Everything about this has been done before, and better, it plays like a rehash of a rehash with the same theme as Snatch and Lock Stock. No invention, horrible pacing, open story progression with gay undertones thrown in.

Horrible horrible mockney drivel, make Ritchie stop - and avoid this like the plague

Bad film, the various storylines didn't blend together at all, and the story of the junkie rockstar was completely pointless.
The Wild Bunch (Gerard Butlers lot) were very entertaining, but it was all for nothing with that awful ending.

Guy Ritchie has style down, but his 'writing' has been awful for the past few years.

Totally agree with zabbo here. Wat a complete pile of sh*t this film was.. How anybody with half a brain could rate this is beyond me..

Lock stock had its merits in 99 or whenever it came out, as it was somewhat original (it still doesnt hold up to the test of time however). Snatch wasnt bad.. but since then ritchie has really shown his true coulors..

In rocknrolla we are once again treated to the same old tired dialogue, rhyming cockney slang and regurgitated boring plot..Wat a waste of a talented cast..Please dont direct any more fims ritchie.....

Terrible, terrible movie. Guy Ritchie is a one trick pony.

One of the worst films ever. Ritchie is meant to be a great scriptwriter but makes a rookie error with the script, there's a narrator who introduces all the characters at the start, this is such a cliched trop that only novices use it, then the narrator disappears once thats done as there is no use for him seemingly, weak. It continues the grand tradition of stereotyping Russians as ultra hardcore robots with a penchant for perverse torture. We have a pete doherty knock off, why model a character on a complete tool who represents imo the worst in music and fashion atm, jangly badly played indie/heroin chic. It uses the tired convention of glamorizing gangsters, ruthlessness blah blah blah. Its bereft of ideas and is an exercise in self parody. This should have been carry on lock stock and two smoking barrels. The only thing this film is good for is if you want to say rocknrolla instead of rock n roll to annoy people instead of hella cool.

Terrible piece of dross. I don't know how that idiot keeps getting gigs. I'm glad I d/l'd so I wasn't financing any of his future garbage.

Just watch The Long Good Friday and forget that this rip-off merchant ever existed.

I actually enjoyed it. Not going in any of my top 10 lists, but there were some very enjoyable scenes in in. The chase scene and the one with Johnny playing the piano come to mind.

    Plus, Thandie Newton.

I gave advantage to Snatch but realised that I don't have to compare the movies although they are from the same author. I enjoyed it!

Best review of it that I read said; 'Richie is hardly re-inventing the wheel, but the movie is entertaining nonehteless'.

    I couldn't disagree.

She is a stick in this film - though the dancing scene quite funny. I liked it - not as good as one or two of his but better than his more recent stuff. I think a 2nd and a 3rd in this series could turn out quite well. It is a better movie than the remade ****e coming out of america in any event.

I liked it. It kept me entertained for a couple of hours. Nothing fantastic, but then not every single movie has to speak directly to your mind and your soul. Some of these replies are now just sounding like elitist pricks tbh.

Some films are just for making cash, and keeping you entertained. This did what it was supposed to.

Here's another "elitist prick" not apologising for continuing to hold the belief that 'Rocknrolla' is a heap of utter rubbish that the human race could well do without.

It may be better than some of the rubbish (sequels etc...) coming out of USA, but that ain't saying much.

It may be that it's just for making cash - why is that to be applauded? In anything? Ever?

    "Elitist prick" out
