You can get a series 6 46" for ~1400 quid so a 37" would want to be alot cheaper then that. Also there is now a Series 7, 8 and 9 so the 6 is bound to drop in price.

    hi dp,
i am in the exact same boat wrt the samsung series 6 37inch model (missus will not go bigger). The 37" model is not 50,000 to 1 though, it's 15,000 to 1.
I'm trying to use this as a selling point with the missus but she's not buying it.

I came to the same conclusion that driving up to NI was the best way to get it for under 1k.

It's nice to see the screen you're buying in operation,to check for dead/stuck pixels, which rules out having it delivered,if you're bringing the set into the republic,is there any extra VAT that the customs could catch you for ?

Bought LE40a656 €1070 inc delivery no extra tax from http://www.1staudiovisual.co.uk
the delivery charge is 100sterling but my tv was delivered next day and still beat all competition proce wise with this factered in.
Once bought from within the EU there is no extra tax, you pay the uk tax and thats it, no excise or customs.
So you can drive up to Newry or belfast and buy from a curry's/pc world and save a few hundred compared to the exact same irish store oulets.
I bought online form a london business cheaper than driving to Newry and It was delivered the next day.
You do take the risk of receiving a lcd with dead pixels, but If you buy from a good website whatever their returns policy they will want to avoid such a scenario and encourage their business by helping you. Check feedback from sellers on different sites.
There is more risk of being conned at outlets in Dublin that diplay LCD's that are about a year on display and only reduced by about 100Euro.
thats what drove me to buy online also coupled with the annoying Curry's Newry V Dublin pricing difference. Its whatever the market bears and we are suckers.

I looked at richer sounds. Their site has a poor selection of tvs I thought? Was I missing something?

THeres LE37A656 and then an A model from what I can see. The A model is available from a number of online retailers and has 50000:1?
