whats the car?? depends on the car for me. i'd probably sway towards 78 WH 101 to deter people from asking questions about a cars year but im sure there's an exception or two

Definetly go with the old style reg.

Dont care for the zv plates since the went over four digits.....i.e ZV 25698324571.....;)

Hence my idea of scrunching it up a bit. I think we're up to ZV-23456 so it would be ZV2-3456 which I think should be much more pleasing to the eye IMO.

It's a late model '74 1303 bug in silver so there might be an argument for trying to avoid it looking like a VERY late bug by putting the 74 C XXXX plate on

    ZV 12345, imo.

I wouldn't bother with mucking about with the placement of the extra digit, and the 5 numbers doesn't bother me.

That said are you sure they're up to 5 where you are? They were only ZV 1234 in Dublin last year.

I've gone the 78 D 123 route in the past but I've just re-reg'd a Dolomite with a ZV plate and it was only 4 digits (ie ZV 1234). I was surprised as I've read on here before that it was up to 5 digits now.

Neither one looks right to me! :)

ZV 12345 wiould look OK but ZV 23456 wouldnt, in which case go for 74Cxxxx(im sure it would be in four figs by now....)

at the end of the day, its only a number plate, so it doesnt bother me much anyway...but I always go for the new style cos I can and I want to....:)

I went 54 \VW 123 on my Beetle as it was an old one and wanted people to know that, to some a beetle is a beetle! (WW = \ VW:D)

I wouldnt go for ZV as now its five digits starting with 88123

It would look like a polish plate or something then, the 5 digit ZVs dont sit well whatever way they are bunched or spaced or whatever IMO.
    Itd be 74C for me......:)

Lol, before i voted it was 5-5, so this poll isn't helping.

Just go for any on this one, and go for the opposite on the next:P

Go with the old reg on the old style plate with black background and silver pressed figures.

You could also look about getting the reg of a scrapped 74 bettle, it was possible years ago but I'm not sure of it is now.

It must be 4 digits, it was almost into them this time last year when I registered.

I had a '71 beetle, reg 63 ZC (Dublin) and lost count of people that approached me saying 'ah she's a '63, is she?' :D

    Yeah, from which county? :P

Yeah, that was only a semi-serious suggestion - but you can reg to a Dublin address, as long as you know the occupants. ;)

Or you can do like some others have and dig up an old beetle log book......;)

Grand if you are keeping it for yourself, its when these cars get sold that bothers me,its hard enough to buy a decent classic without trying to find out if its actually an irish car or not...Beetles seem to be very popular for this "mod"!

I only had a niggle of doubt about going down the ZV route so I asked.

However, I've been swayed. If you see a silver bug wearing 74 C 971 give you're old buddy cantdecide a flash:p

My capri is 74 C 964 and was registered in August 2007!

    Things must definately be slowing.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

That's a cool Manta, manta mad!

What engine is in it? I don't remember the wipers being an original option - were they? Back in the 70s options like that were so cool :D

Probably because we had no other gadgets. Even the simple walkman concept (an old tape deck made smaller) was still years away.

    I agree 100%!
    white front - red rear;)

    Europlates (01 - 8251804) supply them apparently, c.€25 pair.
