Dish alignment

I have Sky dish installed for 7.5 years. I subscribed to Setanta last year and it goes off when there is bad weather. Recently I see the likes of CBeebies doing the same.

Is this a sign of bad alignment. Can I use the signal stength meter in the digibox to finetune or is it to slow to update on screen after I make changes?

Could be poor alignment, could be something else. What reading are you getting for signal quality at the moment?

You can use the signal quality reading to assist with adjustments- just give the box a few moments to update after any moves. Keep the moves very small- a centimeter up/down, left/right at a time and see if it makes a difference. A cheap signal meter helps, in my opinion.

Anything less than 50% leaves you vulnerable in heavy rain. If you obtain 60-70% or better, you should have no problems.

Definately seems like an alignment issue. Get yourself a cheap-o sat compass and have a fiddle. We sell 'em, at remarkably reasonable rates, but modesty (and forum rules no doubt) mean that I couldn't possibly tell you the address is dastv dot co uk

A centimetre is huge in dish alignment terms. Move a couple of milimetres then check.
