Is there any point in joining a tri club now (mid-September)?

Just wondering if the training etc... is cut right back over the winter months.

Clubs generally stop serious training for end of September and October. The core groups of clubs will start back November.

Definitely a point to it! I have planned myself on joining one after the Marathon, but I have attended a couple of running sessions with a club and have to say the atmosphere even in the rain is good. People are generally very chatty and friendly. I paid membership to TI yesterday just so I'll be covered going out for group cycles over the winter, even though I won't do my first Tri until around May next year. I'm a total novice and itching to start, however glad to have the winter to build confidence in the pool.
