Just for any other users of this laptop out there this might be a bit informative.

    I recently purchased a 1310 specs-
    intel dual core 2.1ghz
    8400m GS nVidia graphics
    3gb of ram

After checking temps on it i was a bit shocked to find the GPU(graphics) easily hitting 84 plus in games and the CPU has gone over 80 on one or two occasions.

These temperatures are franky a bit outrageous and not good at all for the machine. I did a bit of research and found that the M1330 (XPS) is pretty much the same laptop and suffers the same problems.

The solutions i came up with were the copper mod and undervolting. for info on these search the notebook review forums.

After the copper mod which basically involves removing the thermal pad on the GPU and using a small square of copper and some decent thermal paste i got temps down by around about 10degrees on the gpu but this meant more heat on the CPU due to the nature of the cooling assembly.

I ran a stress test on the CPU at 100% for 10mins and the temp rose to 100degrees C which i was cringing a bit at and no CPU should really be coming near to. This temp was at 1.250V i undervolted the CPU to .950V and ran another stress test for an hour and it reached a mere 65 thats 35degrees less than it was.

In conclusion i was a bit annoyed at dell that they ship laptops with this bad cooling but it now preforms very well with Cpu idles temps around 39 and GPU idling at 59 which im quite happy with.

If you had sense and bought a warrenty with you laptop well id just use away and if anything gives up its dells problem.
