you'd well know the schools are all back properly, and a bit of rain we all slow down again, traffic backed up from newlands cross to almost rathcoole this morning..

The traffic isn’t your problem because you are the traffic.
Newlands cross to Rathcoole is one of the best roads in the country so there is nothing anyone can do for you.

I’d say over 70% of car I pass in Dublin city have 1-2 people in them. It’s probably higher.
Sure some need their van or car for work but I doubt everyone does.

If you can get a motorbike then get one. This problem isn't going away even if you have a mega commute.

My post seems harsh, not aimed at you :)
Sorry, just reckon you drive a car into or around a city you lose the right to complain about traffic.
Some people don't have options but if you can ditch the car you won't look back

To be honest, the vast majority of people coming towards the city from the N7 don't have public transport options! Or where they exist, they're 200-400% of the commute time that driving is.

I haven't really decided which is the lesser evil - a bus full of schoolkids, or a bus stopping in traffic because people are taking their kids to school in a car. I usually support public transport, but I'm not sure this time.

my main problem with public transport for work is, I'm in Clondalkin mostly., the train times don't suit me and I also need to change at Newbridge coming from Carlow to get there by train, the buses are just too slow and most of them go through Naas and Kilcullen which traffic wise is a nightmare at peak times.

I also need to get around different parts of Clondalkin, and yes I could walk to most of them but the weather is crappy and I'd be soaked all the time, and anyone in Clondalkin can tell you the buses arn't reliable particularly the 76's ( I have an annual Dublin bus pass with work and would gladly use it if the services were in place)

and as for the city bit I rarely drive into it, for that I will use the bus where possible.
