I went to a flapper shoot last Sunday run by Drumconrath Gun Club in North Meath. They had 5 sporting stands set up and they were all named after me - Pull and Bang! I felt so honoured:D:D

It was only when I read the small print I realised they meant the second bird was on report - in other words, you call pull, get your first target and when you go "bang" you get your second.

Anyway, not being a sporting shooter I watched some of the big guns shoot, and boy could they shoot. There was one perfect score 50 out of 50 - he also shot the DTL stand straight and took the high gun prize. I'd never been to a sporting shoot before and I have to admire those who can take a clay up in the sky, then drop the gun to shoot a bolting rabbit travelling at warp speed before he gets to cover.

Think I'll sell the trap gun and buy a sporter!

DTL is only to warm up your gun...:D

All joking aside now..I suppose you could call it the game shooters take on clayshooting: variation and more variation.

If you were impressed by the performance at Drumconrath you should go and have a look at the NARGC finals next year. There's some ladies and gents shooting there who would send your head spinning.

I remember one lad on the Meath team showboating a bit when he started to take one clay of a simultaneous pair of springing teal on the way up and kinda waited a bit for the second one to start dropping back down before dusting it.

P.S. A friend of mine bagged the runner up trophy in the novices competition at Drumconrath last weekend.

Was that Padraig C? I saw him shooting it.

I ended up winning the DTL after a shoot off - even more importantly, I won a bottle of whiskey in the raffle:D

The very man, ever since he's got that Beretta a couple of weeks ago he's been on fire. He was good with his old Lanber but with this yoke he's been lifting his game up a few notches... He's not even that dedicated a clayshooter, he's more a dedicated vermin destroyer and game guy.

Congratulations on winning the DTL by the way and that wee drop will come in handy for the frosty mornings as well:D

He sure is - he took the runner up spot in our shoot two weeks ago

Which one is Tikkamark? Is he on the Loughree team?

I'm just a member in Dunderry, I'm not from there.

I was wondering where SOLR came from on your score sheet. I thought Jason was losing the run of himself:)

Look after the cup, it's worth zillions!!
