Has anyone gotten their brake pads changed by anyone apart from BMW?

I have a huge issue with the €200 per hour labour charge.

    Any recommendations welcome.

I'm sure lots of people have. Changing brakes really isn't difficult, and can be done by any garage. Remember though, you'll need to buy a replacement brake pad depth sensor as well as the pads too.

Who is quoting you €200 per hour?

Anyhow, I would get the parts in somewhere like GSF and then get a specialist like ACCars to do the work

or just do it yourself on a saturday afternoon - costs €0 per hour

In fairness, most people wouldn't have the skills, tools or desire to DIY. The wonderful weather will put anyone who meets the criteria but still have doubts.

if it 2 years or newer you must bring it to a bmw g and the one in cahir costs 110 a hour very cheap

i'd have my doubts about that - afaik no manufacturer is able to void warranties etc just because a car is serviced somewhere other than a main dealer

@kb, true, but most people find - if they'd only try - that a lot of car maintentance jobs are fairly easy and require only a basic set of tools

    That is simply not true.
Manufacturers cannot stop anyone qualified using appropriate equipment from doing any repair work. If its a warranty job then I think it must be done by an approved agent (dealer) but the likes of brake pads would not come under this heading.

That may be the official line from the dealers but European block exemption legislation says otherwise.

I had mine fitted by one of those advance pitstop / kwikfit crowds in town, with no problems at all. They ordered in OEM parts for me as well.
