    Hi folks,

Just wondering what I can expect to pay for site supervision by an engineer for a new build?

    Thanks in advance

Some will charge a fixed fee, some will charge a percentage of the building cost and some will charge per sq. foot/metre. Then it depends on who you get and where you are located.

The minimum I'd think would be close on 2k and stretching up to 5 or 6k. depends on a lot of factors.

You also need to be pretty clear in your mind what you expect him to do and how often you expect him to be on site.
For example do you expect him to be there when the concrete arrives for the foundations and check the docket to see what is in the spec was delivered?

If the builders work weekends will he?

The other question is what happens when there is a snag that requires a change of design, perhaps: eg softer ground so wider/deeper foundation: who does the re-design?

In passing, you could do a lot worse than buy the new issue of homebond manual, 50 euro as a reference book if u are not v well up on building stuff.

    Good luck
