Guys some of you who were boxing back in the early 1990's may have heard of a guy called Mark Riggs, he trained in Phibsboro boxing club while I was there. Leo Capper trained him, then there was a big move as he went pro and moved to Canada, his brother also boxed.

If any of you know of the guy, is this him?

It's been 13 years at least since I've seen him

EDIT: Got a better look at him, yep it's him. Anyone remember him on the amateur scene?

I remember Mark alright. Good solid fighter, I think he was welter/LM as a Senior

He used to train a fair bit in Saviours BC

That is him in the clip BTW!

Can't remember ever seeing Riggs, but Irwin was a pretty good fighter.
With a bit more luck Irwin could of picked up a World title.

The other guy he lost to is a Romanian by the of Victor Puiu who I've heard is an alright fighter if nothing special.

Has he become a journey man?
He left Ireland with big ambitions, well I suppose they all do. Nice to see him again mind. (even if he was KO'd by a meagre left)

It seems he retired a few years ago, I certainly haven't heard anything about Riggs coming back.

I seen that fight he had against marty o'donnell in winnipeg............mark and a guy in our club were great mates.........so he invited our club over..........at that time he had a canadian girlfriend and a kid.........so id imagine after boxing he just settled down over there.

He was trained by a scottish bloke.........sutherland can't think of his 1st name.........the trainer's son was good aswell........here is his record http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=45716&cat=boxer
............but they had a lovely gym.

BTW a nicer guy you could never meet............a real sound bloke.

I think his brother won the intermediates at super heavy or heavy...........not sure how he got on in the seniors.

Yeh he was a genuine fella. Trained like a beast, a buddy of mine was his sparring partner while he was here in Ireland.
Anyone know what Leo Capper is doing now, I heard he ended up in St Saviours but not too sure.
