Laptop Help

    I am not sue if this is the right place feel free to move it mods.

    My laptop(Dell INspiron with Windows XP) is dead, it keeps giving me this error message \SystemRoot\system32\config\software i did a google search on it and it basically says put in the windows disk and follow a numer of procedures which is fine but i cant get it past the above message. I have tried starting it in safe mode, last know safe mode ect but no joy. i have also tried hitting the F8 key when its loading but i still get the message. Can anyone help me with this?

    Is the laptop set to boot from CD before HD ? Usually F2 on boot to access Setup , though it may be different . Watch on screen for Setup or Boot Sequence/Priority prompts .
