Manger doesn't trust me.

Hello, my name is Andy and I am 26 years old.

I was going to go unreg'd for this, but because my account is recent I decided against it.

Anyway here is my story: I am currently away on duty with my 'job'....I know I have the ability to be a worthy member of the team but my manager doesn't appear to have faith in me. I respect the man, he is hugely experienced and its a fantastic opportuniy working with him but I can't help feel I am being punished for factors beyond my control.

See despite being a hugely talented individual with excellent vision, I have a weight problem. No matter how hard I try to shift it, it won't just go away. For some reason my boss is using this against me, and chooses to rely on 'workers' (who I feel) are less individually talented than myself.

I don't begrudge anyone a chance but when I see myself so far down the line I just can't tolerate it.

Please help me, its not my fault I'm fat.

If you've read the obesity thread over in After Hours (sensible posts in After Hours?), you'll see that many posters reckon being out of shape means lack of focus, discipline, goal setting, work ethic, etc.
Kinda if you can't manage yourself how the hell are you going to manage a team or department.
Would any of this apply in your case do you think? Just throwing it out there.....

God knows it's something I've struggled with too but can't say it's ever affected me in work.

Ah come on now Andy, you're an intelligent guy so don't post that (bar a medical reason)

What exactly has given you cause to think this? Surely he hasn't actually said this?

Note to self, people are idiots.

    Hi OP.

What is your line of work? If it doesn't involve physically exerting yourself, then your size is none of his concern tbh. if you do your job well, then I don't see the problem.

What exactly does your boss do to demoralise you? How has he shown you that he doesn't trust you? Is it possible at all that there is another reason why your boss may pick your colleagues to do tasks rather than you. Is it possible that because you are conscious of your size that you may assume that everyone has a problem with it too?

You could start by not eating all the pies, Andy. That would help.

Is that supposed to be a pathetic attempt at humour? For a mod who is so strict in her own forum, i'm a little bemused.

The guy is a troll. He's pretending to be Andy Reid, the footballer. I would never take the piss if it was a serious post - but it wasn't.

The post has been reported so it'll be locked soon anyway. I think you guys all gave him good advice by the way, even if he was just being an idiot.

Stargal, I had written something here about your post but then saw your recent response.

As I am not privvy to seeing IP addresses, I assumed your post was nasty (out of character for you it has to be said).

Post reported. A mod should really know better than this.

How is your post in any way helpful? You really needn't have bothered posting at all.
Again, the guy is taking the piss. Sorry if you were insulted by what I wrote, that wasn't my intention at all. I was just joking, cos people used to shout 'Who ate all the pies' at Reid when he got the ball. Personally I think the guy is in great shape and gets a lot of unnecessary flack, but that's a discussion for a whole other forum...!

Thats an abstract catch, and it fits when you think about it like that, but you should know full well that PI posts need to be taken as innocent until proven guilty.

How do you know it's not the REAL Andy Reid? :D

Good spot though, if it's true;)

I don't think it's all that abstract. I'm not exactly a football expert (ha!) but I know that Andy Reid is 26 and has had weight issues for a long time now. Add the fact that there has been loads of debate about why Trappatoni seems to be so reluctant to use Andy Reid, especially in the game against Georgia on Saturday and you've got yourself a fake post.

Again, sorry if I offended anyone but seriously, the guy is a troll. Lol @ having a post of mine reported though. Think that's the first time that's happened in the six years I've been here. I'm such a good girl usually...:)

Yep, gotta agree with you there. You are usually a good girl. I couldn't believe what I was reading...:)

Well, now I know. But i'm sure you can understand.... if you were me and you thought the post was genuine, you'd have to report your post.

    First time for everything, eh.:D

Lol, well spotted, I missed it! :D

Just looked back at previous posts there, lol.

Ah, 'twas kind of a harmless troll really, though not really suitable for PI. He should have put it in AH, might have got a good thread started!

Locked pending a reason to unlock it

IF you think a post is a troll use the report post function.
Stargal there is no excuse for unhelpful posting.
