I thought a thread might have been started on this already...but obviously not. Anyway, I would just like to wish all fellow boardsies good luck in the repeats (for those that are unlucky enough to have them). They start tomorrow. I myself have 1, economics. Can't say I didnt deserve it though. But the experience of studying during the summer holidays has certainly been a wake-up call for me to work harder next year and avoid these repeats again.

I just want to say, i will be glad when it reaches 12:30 and my summer can finally begin :D

There were a few threads on repeats but none wishing good luck. So best of luck with them!

Remember that the deadline for appealing repeat exam results is horribly tight so if you failed, contact your tutor immediately after you get your results. If you can't get through to him/her get in contact with Hugh (Education Officer, Students' Union - 01 6468439*; education@tcdsu.org) and/or the Senior Tutor's Office (http://www.tcd.ie/Senior_Tutor/).

Don't wait around to hear back from someone, if they aren't there go to the next person.

Hopefully anyone reading this will pass, of course :)

    *Hah, I still remember it!

Yeah I know a girl from work who is doing a repeat or two. I think she's doing a course on economics or something.

So yeah, good luck to everyone :)

Wait, what's the situation if it's your first time round? I had to defer two exams due to an eye infection in June, so this is my first time doing these two.

If by some horrifying chance I get unlucky and fail, can I repeat before the year begins?

I don't have any experience of this myself but are there not 'super' supplementals? Maybe they're only under special circumstances.

    Good luck.

Indeed, best of luck to all. I've been in your boat many, many times (sometimes to my detriment).

Of course you remember it, it was your phone number after all, and most people can remember their own phone numbers.

I know a girl who did the super supplementals, she had malaria and was too sick to sit the regular repeats... I'm not sure what the deal with them is though.

    Good luck everyone!!

    Hi,
Im a similar boat myself as I understand it. If fail a exam, your only option is to go off books for the year and repeat in May

Nope, there are other options open to you. As was said above there are super-supplementals. You've to appeal to get these, but generally you're entitled to two 'good shots' at each exam, so if you were unable to sit an exam the first time it's fairly likely you'll be eligible for the super supps.

Note: above information is two years out of date so it may have changed. As below, check with your tutor/senior tutor's office/students' union for more details, and if you fail or think you fail do so immediately.

    Hey

I'm repeating one subject, shouldn't be too bad. I've been preparing for a bit now.. I got my fees in the mail though,(was going to call them but might as well ask while I'm here) do I pay them now? Deadline date says 15th but obviously I wont know if I passed by then.Anyone know the story?
And GL to everyone who is repeating

As far as I can remember yes you still have to pay (or 'suffer' an additional admin charge) but if you fail or repeat and go off-books you'll get your cash dollars back.

Disclaimer: Same as other post, check with those with more uptodate information.

Aside: Orlaith, if you're reading this ask Hugh if he would sign up to answer some queries. Apart from everything else it's a good area for the SU to have a 'presence' in. Ta.
