Has anybody had Word fro Mac 2004 just suddenly stop working

    Just wondering has anybody had this problem. About 4 weeks ago word stopped working. Every time I try to open it I get an error message : Microsoft word has encountered an error and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. I have Office for mac 2004 student edition and everything else is working fine - thankfully all my excel spreadsheets are stiil opening.
    I've tried searching on the internet for answers and didn't find any. Word not working seems to have happened to a few people but they haven't found a solutiion.

    If anyone knows how to fix this I'd be grateful - especially as I'm starting college in a couple of weeks.

    I had a small issue with ms word crashing on my mac. It only happened twice over the space of a day. I updated office using the ms update application. The update utility is usually in :/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MAU2.0/

    You can run this update without opening ms office. May not work but try it anyway.

    Just tried the updater - downloaded update. Still no joy. Word goes through the process of trying to open and then i get the erorr message.
