work in construction industry asa bookkeeper. Been out of the business a couple of years due to maternity and returned late last year. Was working with another girl whom i did not get on with and she left to go on maternity leave 2 weeks after I started back.
She left all the details of things to do which was very nice but now i have discovered an unmerciful huge problem. Do not want to get into too may details but it appears that some vital revenue issues were not addressed as she misleading put in her notes that there was no requirement to do this for 2008 and on checking last week I realised that she was wrong (whether innocently or intentionally - I do not know). Anyway I have discovered the error and it seems that the problem is financially huge. I have not told a single person about it and I feel so responsible because I really should have checked at the start of the year and not taken her word for it. I am the one more qualified for the job but the laws are always changing and to be honest I did not think too much of it!!
God I am such a fool - I am sick with worry, not sleeping, eating etc.. The main boss is not in the best of health and am so worried that not only will this matter do him severe harm financially, it will also harm his health. I am thinking of trying to speak with the accountant later this week to see if he can help?
    Any ideas.

Talk to the accountant and talk to Revenue.
They are the ones can help sort this out.
I'd also tell the main boss - he/she needs to know.

Not the best idea in the world to use your real name as your user name Dave

    It's David O'Dwyer ;)

Seriously though, talk to the accountant first and make sure you know what the story is, then tell the boss.

    Hi

The only way is to talk to the boss - lay it on the table and then suggest that you are willing to help in any way possible. The longer you leave it the worse it is for everyone.
