Alaskan Cruise or Croatia?

Need a holiday bigtime so was thinking of either an Alaskan Cruise or maybe two weeks in Croatia but am open to other ideas. We, myself and my girlfriend, usually take our holidays in September and I usually do a shed load of research into it and book everything myself e.g. flights, hotels, car hire, places to go etc. Due to being extremely busy in work, I have not had a chance to give this years holiday much thought. That's why I'm counting on fellow boardsie's to help me out with some info and recommendations.

I've briefly checked out Norwegian Cruise Lines for the Alaskan Cruise. I presume there are other Cruise lines who offer the Alaskan Cruise. Do you have to fly to either Canada or Northern area of US to get the boat? We would ideally like to take our holidays in October but can wait till November if it's worth waiting for. I've searched boards for the cruise and croatia tips but not too much there. All advice welcome.

You've missed the Croatian tourist season at this stage, it goes dramitically quiet from Septemeber 10th onwards, weather changes as well in late September.

Alaskan Cruise sounds brilliant to me.

I'm just back from doing the Alaskan cruise with Norweigan. It was brilliant! Would recommend it to anyone. The cruise line is more casual than others that do Alaska. There's a lot less of the formal dining etc etc. We're in our late twenties and had a great time. Alaska is amazing. When we started off the week we thought the scenery was class and it just got better and better as we went further north. We saw loads of orcas on our whale watching trip. The cruise spends one day cruising up to a glacier with icebergs passing you in the water.

We flew to Vancouver and spent a week there first. A week is loads there. It's a lovely city but you'll have most of it covered in 4 days. We probably could have gone up to Whistler or something for a day or two but will prob do that if we go back.

The only thing I'd be wary about for you is the time of year. I'm not sure what the weather would be like in Alaska in Nov. I don't even know if they do cruise's in Oct/Nov? I thought they only went from May to Sept? But I might be wrong.

If you've any other questions about it let me know.

If you are going with Royal Caribbean your tips are normally included in the price. It'll state that on your confirmation. You're still on an american crusie ship though so poolside bae service, in-cabin service and and end of trip tip for the cabin cleaner and waiter in the restaurant are generally left.
