    and here we are...

NTL connection problems forced me to look for a substitute.
New apartments, no phone line, dislike for 12- or 18-month contracts with mobile operators left 2 competitors only.

    Three prepaid mobile internet

    and

    (30-day notice) O2 mobile broadband

    Three mobile broadband
    module: Huawei EG162
    http://www.huawei.com/mobileweb/en/products/view.do?id=1100

    important sentence from manufacturers page:
    Support 236.8Kbps high speed services

    10 GB allowance per month (25e top-up)
    2GB allowance for week (10e top-up)
    500MB allowance for day (5e top-up)

    99e for broadband module
    14 days try-out policy

    o2 mobile broadband
    module Huawei E270
    http://www.huawei.com/mobileweb/en/products/view.do?id=381

    worth noticing on manufacturers site:
HSDPA Downlink 7.2Mbps; HSUPA Uplink 2Mbps
    UMTS Downlink / Uplink 384kbps
    EDGE Downlink / Uplink 236.8kbps

5GB allowance per month when on a 30-day plan (30e/mth)
    7,5GB allowance when on 12-mths contract (25e/mth)
    10GB allowance when 18-mths chosen (19,99e/mth)

    ______________________________________________________
    OK, now the performance

    3
    living room:
    no signal

    by the window:
enough signal to get 'HSDPA 3' caption and nothing more

in a car parked outside the building:

    Galway:
    318854911.png
    Dublin:

    o2
    living room:

    Galway:

    Dublin:
    319204566.png
    Limerick:
319204898.pngdo I really need making tests outside?? :)

    And who's the winner??

is this a joke ?? you say you bought a 3 modem ??in your speed tests it clearly states BT IRELAND which means you have a terrible BT connection and are labeling it as 3 do you work for o2 ?? i have had 3 broadband and every speed test would indicate Hutch 3 IRELAND :eek::eek:

Op care to comment on why you complaining about three yet clearly the speed tests which you claim are from three are not.

Also op I'd like your comments on why all these speed tests which you claim are in different parts of the country all practically have the same time on them (plus or minus 5-10min) how did you get from Dublin to Galway so quick? ;)

I'll give this thread 24hrs for you to address these querys before it's locked

also op next time you post about non broadband products from the likes of three and o2 please post in the right forum, for the record op you don't need to do comparisons......midband products vary wildly depending on location.

As such three can be excellent in one area where o2 could suck, in other areas they may all suck or say vodafone might the only one to be decent.

Bottom line is your tests meaning pretty much nothing when compared to say Dublin, cork, Kilkenny etc

Also 3 dont use the EG162 modem, that modem would never work on their network as 3 use 2100MHhz not the 1900 quoted in the link. OP this is a rubbish thread...you have been caught out...:D
