I got my free shoulder patch already, and several ppl said recently that AI's gone downhill fast lately.

So is it time to cancel my sub, or is it worth sticking with them for a while longer?

downhill in my opinion. Subscribed but missed last months edition because it "wasnt included" in the years subs. Bollox.

Emailed them about it and go no reply.

too much hassle to cancel subs but I'll be f'ed if I'm gonna subscribe again next year...

Have to agree, I'm spotting article from a year ago coming up again and again. They've simply run out of steam. If one of my parents pick it up for me I'll skim through it but I never bother to go in and get it anymore.

Isnt there a new "on the shelf" mag now?

Cant wait for the ronans version to be up and running, its way more interesting than the repetitive cr*p that AI are printing these days.,

another option http://www.airsoft-soldier.com/ along with your free online magazines

In fairness I've never read any type of airsoft mag, but I've glanced through one or two that have been around the shop, and they look awfully crap. They look like a really lowbudget pc mag or football mag

Just riddled with advertisments...I hate those type of mags. I think I'll save my money and just read stuff for free....online

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,021 ✭✭✭Hivemind187

I dunno. I dont think you can beat a well produced printed page.

I cant read eBooks they just arent right. That said, I dont have an eReader.

I do, and I still couldn't be arsed using it. There are certain things that you just have to stay away from technology with. Printed word is one of them. I don't feel like I've actually read something unless I've physically turned the pages of what it's written on. It just doesn't seem to sink in without that tactile experience.

Though I could do without the smell of AI's pages. You'd swear they were dipping them in chlorine before shipping.

While browsing in easons looking for the new Empire issue, I spotted Airsoft international.
"class! an airsoft mag!" I thought. Surely this will be a quality read, with snappy well written articles and some decent reviews on aegs....
Perhaps even some advice on kit?

    Oh no.
Half of it is advertising, the other half is plagued by (non-existant) grammar and spelling so bad it makes my inner English student boil with rage....

Pity, I was looking forward to getting a stack of em.
Anyone know a decent Airsoft mag that's actually worth the hard earned yo yos?

Dont forget the reviews of FPS computer games that pop up from time to time!!
That annoys me. There are Magazines for Games already. Dont need to see gaming articles pop up in an airsoft magazine.

Not really sure if the Magazine itself has gone down hill or not.
I think its because not much has changed in the magazine same ads advertising
the same stuff most of the time. Not much new stuff etc etc. Its got a little stagnant.
I'm getting tired of seeing that Ginger haired Lad with the stubble in too many photos
posing with gear.....Oi! Let someone else have a go at photo shoots and get a bit of variety ;) same goes for the same photos being used over and over again.

    With all that said......
Does anyone think that its not the Magazine but its were just too spoiled for choice now
here in Ireland with all the online stores and amount of kit everyone has bought?

I used to drool over things in the magazine and look longingly at some of the
AEG's and GBB's Now I have become so accustomed to looking through sites
and actually HAVING lots of gear I just go Mmm must order one from Tony......

But for example i can pop online and read reviews about kit, indepth review that are decent, with video breakdowns etc.

I can watch and read reviews etc about certain events that have taken place.

I personally dont have a problem reading stuff from the web, i just grew up doing it, I've barely read a book all my life.

The quality of the articles are pants in all fairness.

I've barely read a book all my life.

    that explains a lot ;)

I was actually stunned that their editor didn't see anything wrong with the sorry excuse for a magazine he sent to the printers...

And yeah, the ads seemed a bit on the repetitive side... Can't say i'd bother making further enquiries.

In fairness, showcasing different loadouts like Delta Force or SAS style gear is a solid idea... but it was so poorly executed and so confusingly arranged I quickly decided my head had enough garbage in it and stopped reading.
Still, I wouldn't mind actualy reading something decent about Airsoft now and then when i can't reach a pc.

Looks like online is the only way to go!

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 2,610 Mod ✭✭✭✭horgan_p

i would love to know why most of the time they dont list where to buy the gear in the loadout articles.
something to do with sponsership i imagine.

i'd like to se more comparison pieces in it , the last one i saw was comparing different 1911's from marui , we etc.
such as "i know i want an ak47s - which is the best one ?"

always handy to have a mag for the, er, morning and evening abolutions...

having said that i never bought this mag. kinda sad to hear they seem to be having problems.

it was decent for a while but did anyone notice that in last issue the pics where the same ones featured in one yonks ago? twas about vietnam I think,.,
another funny thing i noticed in the new one (which i didnt buy BTW) was they changed the back page advertisment from that one with the UKARA "lollypop" guns to an advertisment for a classic army armalite called the "ROCK SOLID" or something to that effect., thats normal people language for "here, this one might work..." as aposed to the sportline "Fire and Forget" range.,

    :D

Apparently people dont know yet much about us in out there, but yes. We do make a quality airsoft magazine (at least we think so). If you guys want to check it out, you can order a sample issue (#1) with half price from our website, or go to <snip>, who has our magazines in stock.

Also, if you guys have already seen our magazine, we would love to have some of your feedback about it.

I saw that Aiden and the people in the Whitewater thought I was a bit nuts for laughing out loud while drinking my coffee and reading a "gun-nut" magazine.
