Comparing it to TW 08 it's definitely harder.I wouldn't even bother playing the 'All Play' mode as it just wouldn't be a challenge then. The putt preview in 08 is better aswell as you have a time limit on it so can use it multiple times on one shot but in 09 it's harder as you can only use the putt preview once per shot.

Overall though I think its a good thing that it's a little bit harder,it makes the game more interesting.

It doesn't take too long to get used to. You just have to remember that the power percentage doesn't take into account the uphill or downhill slope of the putt so you need to adjust accordingly. In my house there's an unwritten agreement that we don't use putt preview. It takes practice but you will get it eventually and it also means very few putts are a sure thin, much more exciting.

The key is to pay attention to the coloured grid lines and adjust your power accordingly. Its a great idea that you can only look at the putt preview once per shot imo.

So ... would anyone recommend this as a buy?

I just bought it today after trading in some games so I'll report back later on and let ya know. I haven't played one of these since 06 on the Xbox.

I haven't been able to get the hang of the putting at all in this yet. Getting to the green is simple enough but I'm finding it can take me 2-3 putts to get it. Very frustrated with it so far as even hitting 100% power the ball often falls well short of the hole. I'll try it again this evening and see if there's something stupid I'm just not getting

I would absoluty recommend it. Its great craic and there is so much to do between an amazingly extensive single player mode, party games and online play. The putting can be difficult but you will get the hang of it, the colured grid lines on the green are the key imo.

yea I think the putting is just gonna take a bit of practice. slowly but surely improving but sometimes the power is just misleading and it gets frustrating.

IT takes some getting used to. if a green is flat, and the preview says it'll just about go in at 100%, you have to give the putter a swing like a driver!
God help you if you need to go to the next power level and a swing of about 55% is needed.
Around the greens is terrible, you can hit it about 100 meters with the slightest movement. You lose all sense of realism when a 5 foot putt might take a really powerful swing.

If you can get use to this bizzare swing, and aren't expecting anything realistic, go for it! TBH, i found the old PS2 analogue joypad swing to be way better.
