Right. Have an old laptop without a floppy or cd-rom drive. The windows installation on the hard drive is corrupt. The laptop does have one usb port, but it is not bootable.

I've taken out the hard disk. I can connect the hard disk via a usb enclosure to my main pc

How do I install an OS (any really, I just thought linux would be easier) onto the hard disk so that I can install it back into the laptop and it will boot?

I've been out of the game for a bit, so a step-by-step guide would be great. Or a linky?

    Much appreciated :)
