    Hi,

    Anyone here recently bought a new Mac? Did you take out the Protection Plan?

    Or can anyone advise if it's worth it or just the sort of "extended warrenty" rip off you get with a TV or washing machine?

    cheers, KeefG

    absolutely well worth it, apple stuff is expensive to get fixed, with APP you dont have to worry about it! have got it before and will get it on my next MBP...

    Get it cheap from ebay :)

    I would 100% recommend it. My friend has it, and within 18 moths has got a new charger, a repair for his cracked case(which he did when he let it drop) and while it was in for a case repair, they spotted something else that was damaged in the fall and replaced that. Well worth it IMO, especially if you've bought one of the more expensive macs or displays.

    Does it cover accidental damage though?

    Thanks for the replies guys. At 450 euro for a MBP it's not exactly cheap but wen you spread the cost over the 3 years I suppose it make sense especially as I travel a lot.

    @projectmayhem

    I don't think so. I think my friend kinda bluffed his way through that. That said, i'd still buy it. Well, did buy it.

    Of course you can get screwed on eBay, but it is most certainly possible to get AppleCare much, much cheaper, and legitimately there if you shop carefully. I got my AC there and saved a considerable sum of money, following recommendations here on boards.

    Seriously there are far more selling legit. I got mine on ebay, I was emailed the code and reg worked perfectly. I got it for my MBP for something like half the cost.
