supposed to be playing at 8:30 tomorrow. chances?

Was just thinking the same. Courses aren't getting a chance to recover properly. Even if you can get out the result is a tough course with soggy fairways, out of play bunkers and bumpy greens.

The rough tends to be brutal too, as they can't get it cut in this weather. Even if they do there's grass cuttings everywhere.

Courses are in winter condition and have been since about June. By the time March comes around were effectively going to have had around 11 months of winter golf. It's depressing!

Based on the below from weather.ieI'll play on Sunday morning...
Further outbreaks of rain this evening and tonight but then gradually clearing in the northwest later tonight. Lowest temperatures 6 to 9C.

Dull and damp in the east for much of tomorrow, but clearer and brighter weather will gradually extend from the west during the day.

Saturday night will be dry with winds moderating. Sunday will be mostly dry also, with sunny spells and light winds. Monday will start dry in many areas with perhaps some early mist or fog, but wet and windy weather will extend eastwards across the country during the day. Tuesday will be breezy with sunny spells and showers, some heavy. Daytime temperatures will reach 15 C or 16 C at best.

I went out yesterday for may "monthly" round and the weather was super.

I heard Mount Woseley is closed today and tomorrow. A friend of mine who is captain of his society (100 heads) had their outing cancelled there today.

Looking at aaroadwatch.ie, I doubt if it will be the only casualty over the weekend as there are already reports of flooding nationwide.

The forecast for tomorrow (Saturday) is definitely playable. Showers dying out and only 25km/h winds. And Sunday is quite nice.

But after today and tonight, whether the courses are gonna be on is the problem.
    South County is shut today.

Was thinking about playing tomorrow in my club but with all the rain I say it will be closed. Playing Kilkenny on Sunday.

Kilkenny are playing in Dublin on Sunday so you should almost have the course to yourself :D
I like the greens there a lot. They are much more undulating than I am used to but usually in great nick.

called my club at 8.30 and they told me the course was open
got down there for 9.30 and was told the couse was closed
    Very pissed off.

Took yesterday off work to play in a charity outing. Dur to play at 2.15 got a call at 1pm saying that it was called off.
    Total waste of a holiday.

    Gutted

I've had round after round called off or ruined by heavy rain this year, would say I have played only 1/4 or 1/3 of the rounds I would have in a good summer. Can't have been good for the green fee income at already struggling courses. As spur says the worst are the planned days/afternoons off that are wasted.

I know from speaking to the guys at Elmgreen that they're desperate for some good weather. Even when the timesheet is full their getting callers to come up anyway and squeezing them out, just to ensure full fees are got.

The caterers are also struggling i'd say. A weekend washout means a big miss in terms of business for them.

Castlemarytr was in superb condition last Wednesday. Windy with passing showers but got an awful drenching going up the 16th. Waterproofs held up well and the showers in the clubhouse were top notch. I've never gone out this year without a change of clothes just in case.

While the weather has been crap for most of the summer, I've got used to it and thankfully have not got caught with course closures. It's Ireland we live in not Portugal.

Was due to play Hollystown yesterday at 4.00. They called me on Saturday morning at 10.00 to say they'd be closed all weekend. Bit premature I think, since it didn't rain at all on Saturday. Played Grange Castle instead, which was in pretty good nick for the conditions. Winter rules with placing everywhere and bunkers obviously not in play. Got an ace on the 8th too :)

I'm a member there (Hollystown) and have struggled to get out at times over the past montha and a half bit disappointing.
