There are so many holyier than though members here telling others how they are stealing tv signals, yet I bet every one of them has used a photcopier to copy something that has equal copyright under the law the same as tv signals. Stop being hypocrites. Just like the photo copier, the dodgy box is here to stay, get used to it. Next?

It is an illegal practice and therefore boards.ie cannot let anything like that be posted here. It leaves them wide open to action. Boards is a reputable site and I doubt that the owners would like their name dragged through the mud.

If you want to discuss the box or other ways of stealing cable, there are plenty of other websites on the net where this can be done. If you don't like it, no one is forcing you to stay around.

The correct analogy is tapping into someone's gas, electric or phone.

With Cable it's not primarily copyright unless you record it for others or rebroadcast it. It's theft of service. Theft is Criminal Law, Copyright is Civil Law. Connecting without payment is not copyright violation.

Besides you can legally photocopy parts of copyright works as "fair use".

Recording the cable that you pay for service for your own use (time shift) is also "fair use" and not breach of copyright.

Also we protect the clueless. UPC do read these forums and can get a court order for your IP and trace back who you are.
