It's only early September and feels like summer passed us by and we are now rapidly approaching winter.

I sleep with open windows and this morning it was feckin freezing! Still too cheap to put heating on though, maybe that's why I have a cold...

Haven't managed to figure out how to use the gas boiler yet. I have a feeling the clock for the timer is broken. I'm a bit wary of messing around with it too much. Iv'e heard gas tends to be a bit explosive or something. Hopefully this will be fixed before it gets any colder.

DB: I'd almost welcome a little cool weather after today. It was 28C in Newport Beach, and didn't much improve after the sun set, so Cinful and I were in for a cool dip as the night progressed.

If your house is still warm, why are you asking the rest of us about whether our central heating is on? Not a lot on today? :)

Nope, my place is hot as f**k. You would often wake up in the middle of the night, sweating, to yank open another window. There is a duvet but it's more for ornamental purposes.

I've heard others say how cold it is and that they've already put on their heating, just wondering if that was the case for everyone.

+1, but going in the other direction!

ive given up with walking. Ive started running everywhere now. it keeps me warmed up and it keeps me fit.

I get some odd looks though... for example.

    running to the toilet.
    running out of the toilet.
running outside when theres a fire drill.
saying hi to my boss, then running away.

    but hell, im eco friendly!

I heat my house by constantly running the tumble-drier with the door open. It was the most cost-effective and eco-friendly way I could think of...

well with the gas going up another 20% will be holding off for another few months until it is absolutely necessary, i have a duvet on the sofa for when it gets cold

am going to re-isulate the attic in the next few weeks and am looking into a chimney balloon to keep the heating costs down

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,851 ✭✭✭Glowing

It's a device (balloon) you put up the chimney to stop the down draught when the fire is not lit.

Yep only two 30 min spells in the evening but hells bells its an outrage, if this is the future I'm moving to Malta.

    http://www.escapeartist.com/e_Books/Malta/Malta.html
“The Maltese are a delightful people. Despite the strong Catholic influence they remain surprisingly inhibition-free. Their culture is founded on worship of the female form…”

    That'll do. :)

    Mike.
