    Hi All

I've got a quad LNB that I'm planning to place on my Sky dish, replacing the single unit on it.

Is this a straightforward DIY swap or are there any gotchas I need to be aware of?

    Thanks

    Peter

You might want to put some rubber boots on the outputs to keep moisture out. I didn't, and... it didn't seem to matter. As Tony says, very straightforward.

I just paid €27 odd for mine plus €48 for 100M of cable, from a reputable Irish supplier ;).

Totalled €118 when VAT and carriage included. You might get away with less cable depending on your set-up. I have a fairly long run from my dish to my equipment rack.

does a dual or quad lbn dilute the signal? i was thinking about replaicng one but will it just end up giving me 1/4 od the strenght on each line?

No. If you want to know why, you should read a bit more:

I went to that link - I like learning things from these threads but :eek::eek::eek: I give up with that one.

as loing as you have the dish aligned right, you should get equal signals along all 2/4 outputs.

@ the LNB, I got an installer to do it.

Maybe my dish was just too old, and gone rigid or something but I couldn't manage to release it.

In a nutshell, satellite is totally different to cable and aerial so don't expect the same rules to apply.
