Last year at Toys 4 Big Boys in the RDS I took some photo's of the Ramp Riders

I turned some of the images into a Panel. It has been accepted for display at the DCC Gallery.

Of course the panel is meant to be viewed in a horizontal line, so the Bikes & the Skaters move into the centre & become more abstract as they do so.

    I seen these on pix.ie
    I love number 3 & 4 just great

1 & 6 are very similar, okay, but not as striking as the others

number 2, the guy standing still seems to have camera shack, which kinda distracting and the noise/grain takes away IMO

Images like #3 & #4 are what I was trying to acheive when taking the images. I have used ones like that on their own, but for a Panel I wanted there to be context & order.

#1 & #6 are like Bookends to the Panel , both in landscape, with a Bike on the left & a Skater on the right. They are both shown traversing the identifying sign, both are also moving towards the centre of the panel.

#2 & #5 are also oriented towrads the panel, once again with a Bike to the left & a Skater to the right.

#3 & #4 are the abstract images to show the movement & flow. Without context it can take a while to work out what some of the images are.

The images chosen for the panel was a compromise between the individual image & the context of the panel.

I shot the whole session at close to 200mm hand held on my D70S. Shutter speeds were purposely quite long but some shots had Flash included to freeze a aprt of the action while still getting movement, others were just using the available flourescent light (very dim). The ISO was also very high & many images needed an increase in exposure on the RAW files, before the mono conversion in PS.

I really like these shots. I covered the Kings of Concrete and found it a very interesting subject. At the time i was working to a brief but am definitley interested in new ways to portray and scene.

I really like this and would love to see the finished piece.

When will it be on display~?

I have the Panel with me now & will hang it, along with 4 other Panels, tomorrow morning (Sat 6th Sept) & it will be on display for the next few weeks.

The Gallery is open on Saturdays from 11am - 5pm (depending on volunteers doing gallery Duty) & will also be open on Friday 19th September for Dublin Culture Night.

I went in this morning & helped to hang all the panels.

It does make a difference having them in frames & on the wall.

    Happy Bunny tonight :D

Does it cost anything to have a look around the DCC gallery?
And it's on Camden Street, right?
