    Is this the link?
    Colt
Tbh, i wouldn't touch a colt, you'll pay extra on insurance because of loadings on them, as a result of their reputation.

I passed my test back in July at the age of 17 I will be 18 by the end of the week, I am driving a 1.5l Nissan almera 01, and paying 970 euro insurance as a named driver under the policy holder with 5 years no claims.(was 1070 before I passed my test)

The broker I am with offered me a deal because I was driving a mid range car (1.5) whatever they are promoting the prefer drivers to be in the higher bracket than the lower engine size cars,

before you set your sights on a particular car find out if you can get a deal on a car with a bigger engine from an insurance company.

I will not disclose the search site I used to find my broker as I'd assume it would break boards t&c's but have a look about first

I intend to get insurance in my own name after a year or two with named driver experience as even at 18 it'll be a right rip off.

    hope this helps somewhat...

Cant help you with the insurance but from the point of view of reliability I'd say you are safe. The Colt has very good reliability.

My first car was a 1.3l Mitsubishi Colt, the newer model 1998. Was very happy with it and not an ounce of trouble, I don't think I had to pay extra on the insurance, was the same as other 1.3l cars. I think a Colt is well suited to you, but you could probably get a newer one for that price.

It should also be noted that in my experience some insurance companies can charge you more if the car is 10 years or older.

BTW I think €1500 for a 13 year old Colt is expensive especially compared to this for example:

+1 I had a 99 hatchback 1.3L (auto) Mirage as my first car - didn't give me any trouble until the day a woman pulled out in front of me on the N3 and wrote it off. :(

+1 again! :) I had a 98 one of these (also a 1.3L auto) as the replacement for the above and much preferred it to the hatchback. There weren't/aren't as many around either so it's a bit more exclusive and the boot is huge in it as well.

Dunno about insurance loadings. If there was (Quinn Direct at the time) it wasn't extreme in my case anyway - although I'm a bit older than you! :D
