Finding student accommodation from the U.S.

    Hey guys,

I'm over in the Chicago at the moment, but I'm trying to find accommodation around town for me and my friend for college in October. We're both going into our final year, so having to commute would suck! Stayed in the NCI last year, but didn't get around to re-register till it was booked up... :(

Anyway, it's proving impossible so far to find a place on daft.ie or collegecribs.ie without landlords shutting me out based on the fact I'm abroad and not available to view the places personally. I have a friend willing to view places but that hasn't helped so far.

Any tips from anyone who's been in this situation before?

Hrm, would it be possible to come over for a few days before you've to start and stay in a hotel/hostel/mate's place for that period, and view houses/apartments religiously then?

It may be possible to sort something like that out, but it's really not a desired option...kind of a messy way to start my final year! Also for me it's just a long commute from Wicklow, for my friend whose from Tipperary it's a different story!

I'd try chubbproperties.com...google search it. They were really nice to me, even though I live an hour and a half away I didn't have to go and view it. They have good pictures up and its a studenty type area in Rathmines. I'm in Observatory Court. Give them a ring they were pretty cool about it.
    Hope this helps.
