It sounds like a Virus or Spyware. I thought Antivirus XP was a virus already known and posted about on boards.

    try this below

I hate to tell you, but Antivirus XP 2008 is the virus. Try these steps to remove it.

Request a chargeback with the credit card company, download and run Malware Bytes Anti Malware which should remove the rogue anti spyware applications,

it wont allow me to open that link either. Is there a norton security or something that I can buy that I can install and run that will clear out the virus??? I'm just not great with IT stuff and reckon it might be a quicker way you know.

My other post above links to a anti malware program which should remove your infection, a good free anti virus program to install would be Avira but I'd reccomend fully removing the junk thats currently on it first using mbab

Hey I tried the two links you left but it wont let me in page not displayed etc. Its a ****in nightmare. As I say I dont even mind paying for an antivirus software package that will remove whats there and then safegaurd for the future if I know which one to get.
I have managed to open Nortons website http://www.norton-online.com/ie/antivirus and I could buy that but I dont know if that'd even fix the problem

The problem is that virus is "blocking you" for accessing mbams website I'd say, Try this link to the program, if that doesn't work I could upload the exe somewhere which could probably work, try this link anyway and report back, if anything will remove that mbam will, norton is a rubbish anti virus and is best avoided.

ah man so close but no cigar it opened a window with the download part but then when I clicked that it opened a new screen which looked like it was attempting to download but then it went page cannot be displayed.
Thanks for the advice on Norton. I'll go with the other one your talking bout if I can get rid of this thing first somehow. You mentioned you could upload an exe what does that mean exactly??

Anitvirus XP 2008 is a virus and causing all your problems.

    To fix it.

1: Use another computer to download the above program.
    2: Save it to a usb drive/cd
3: Then load onto your computer and run it to fix the problem.

Like stated above you payed for the virus, so god only know who you gave your credit card details to.

Enter the 3 digits top right and click download, a countdown timer will then appear as a button for 45seconds, after 45seconds a download button appears, click it and start download :)

ah man you've been such a great help. So nice to see someone really going out of their way to help someone out. As I say I followed your steps. I downloaded the program and its now doing a full scan of my system. I presume it'll eventually come up saying its finished scanning and has found x amount of corrupt files or whatever and give and option to clean them. If that is the case I'll do that and hope for the best. I'll definately download that free antivirus software tool you posted there earlier as well. Looks like I should have downloaded that a year ago nevermind now!

Make sure theres no other anti virus program installed on the pc also before you try it! Also read a guide here to stop the anti virus poping up a message each time its updated :D

actually seen as Im doing it now is the Avira Antivirus the best free one or is there a better more complete one maybe. Just thought I'd ask before I go with it. And lastly I see that theres one you can pay for. Probably a stupid question but would it be worth paying for it to get the extras or is the free one enough?? Cheers again lads.

    Hello,

I'm sorry to bring up again this thread to the very top since it was a solved issue.

I just wanted to let you know that after suffering with this problem for 4 weeks and trying almost all of the antivirus out there and antispyware, you guys were the perfect solution.

I probably wont be posting back since I don't have much of spare time to surf in many forums, but I did want to show my grattitude for you.

Anyway, this is a perfect fix.

Thanks a lot and best regards from Argentina!

    Cheerio!

    Damian.

Can you transfer the files over via a USB key or cd ?

    Or use a different browser

Do you have any IM clients? Or send me your email through MP. We can setup an FTP connection (I use FileZilla FTP Client) so I can send you the exe of the program.

It's up to you since I'm a new user and it involves quite a confidence level to accept an .exe from an unknown source.
