I'm wondering if you get convicted in the District Court for not having a NCT cert is do you have a criminal record? Or is this a driving offence, that leads to a lesser kind of conviction?

I suppose I'm wondering if it is in the same league as speeding, bad parking and not assault etc.

It's a motoring offence, not a criminal offence.

You'd have to disclose it to your insurance company.

"Have you ever been convicted of a motoring offence, had your license suspended or been disqualified from driving?" is one of the questions that they ask.
