Dublin trumps Europe for poker title

    Compare Bluff:
Last year's contest saw Dublin a narrow second to London but this year the Irish capital was the city that most impressed the panel. "Last year, in recognition of the inaugural WSOPE and the general health of its burgeoning poker scene, we chose London as the place to be. This induced a lot of snickering from across the Irish Sea, where they're rightfully very protective of their fantastic poker scene," said Philip Conneller, Editor of Bluff Europe. "But this year there was really only one candidate."

with Irish Times (relying on Bluff):
The choice did not go down well in London, which has the largest poker scene in Europe.

"This induced a lot of snickering from across the Irish Sea, where they're rightfully very protective of their fantastic poker scene," said Philip Conneller, editor of Bluff Europe .

Maybe they measured it on tournaments but i personally fail to see how a city which cant even geta regular 1 2 nl game going can be the poker capital of europe.
I know theres more to poker than nl holdem but the lack of big cash games esp in holdem makes it a bit of a hollow reward Imo of course.

i think the WSOPE should be held in ireland somewhere like the citywest.. there isnt anywhere in London that is big enough to help it grow to somewhere near the proportion of the ME in vegas.. england cant hold tourneys outside a casino..you'd still get all the pro players and more i think.. and with 1000 rooms or so in the citywest and golf course it'd be a good location

though i heard dusk till dawn is pretty big but is in nottingham?

The WSOPE is a Harrahs event so will be held in Harrahs properties.

What? Why are you being stupidly defensive? Oscar pretty much blew your argument out of the water? Is that how you discuss things normally?

Don't think his 'comment' could be considered an argument. Just an idea that the WSOPE could be held in Citiwest.

    "It's because of the craic"

Way to demolish the irish stereotype flood. You jackass.
