Builder has been trying to source a plasterer who will do wet dash in Galway/the west...would anyone know of anyone, or even midland area?
Also, any comments on use of a silicone based wet dash render - you can get it with colour included...seemingly guaranteed for 60 years. I really know very little about this, but wanted a wet dash finish - just didn't think it was as big a deal. Any advice/help welcome.

Apologies, I was wrong about not being able to get a plasterer....seems there is no problem working with the material, it's just chosing it in the first place. Anyone with any advice on render colour/silicone versus non silicone dash?
    Thanks

I put a traditional wet dash finish on my house. It consiste of a lime mix with 5mm stone which was mixed and left to 'cure' for 2 weeks. After that it was remixed with white cement and sand and dashed onto the house. The white cement has meant that I will not have to paint the house as the colour in permanently inserted into the dash. We put on 3 coats of plaster before we applied the dash. A scratch coat and 2 further coats.
Make sure that all windows and doors are protected and if possible just install the soffit trim only as it is impossible to remove the plaster afterwards.
Ask the plasterer to experiment with a few different combinations of mixes so as you are happy with the final finish prior to plastering
