    Component only carries video signals, the 2 audio cables (red & white) should go into the red & white plugs that are usually located beside the s-video socket, you may be putting an audio cable in the pc sound input socket which is causing your problem, if you are putting the cables in the correct sockets, your tv or the cable is faulty.
