A painful transition

Its funny I put my name down for the Boards book and went looking for a photo I wouldn't be ashamed of to put in it.
I discovered that having bought a dslr earlier in the year and joined this forum the transition from being a family snapper of pics to being a more creative photographer (all arty farty like, me your joking) has been both interesting and painful when I went looking for a photo I discovered they are very basic. They can only get better.
It is painful and I have discovered looking at my old snaps with a critical eye amusing to make the most of it.
    Have a look http://www.flickr.com/photos/labbad/

I assume you have more photos?

Fix that photo with the Egale and put that in?

I have more snaps that I would not inclined to show to anyone in this forum.
What about the photo before the eagle was put in ???
I'm asking because this would be my first choice it's my favourite photo,:D by far

It would have been my pick also. :)
    Even without the eagle.

I think, with a bit of post-production, this shot could be great:

Seastack Near Ceide Fields is my fave from your 'stream. Would be great with a little more contrast to bring out more of the clouds.

Other than that, the 2nd pic you posted above is my pick of that bunch. It's so unusual, but beautiful. I'd hardly call any of your shots basic!

Hi nameandanumber this is where I have a problem I have Photoshop Elements and when you recommend some post-production work I don't know where to start, what would you do with it.
I'm not used to looking at photos with a critical eye yet I'm very new to this. What I'm trying to say is I look at that photo and don't know what it needs so I would appreciate any direction or thoughts of yours.

Hi mehfesto I'll try that with the clouds and post the results.

As for the basic comment those are the best of a few hundred photos I took while on holidays and are more dependant on luck than carefully composed creation. Also the scenery was so stunning in was difficult to get a bad photo (although I did manage it quite often).

Think I overdone it a little
