Jesus, that's early!! Usually I've found that the day immediately after Halloween, al the Holloween stuff is got rid of and replaced by the Christmas goods. It's annoying but I don't blame the shops. There must clearly be a demand for this bollocks.

I, for one, welcome our new Christmas pimping overlords...

the unwritten rule was that no TV ad's or show displays would happen untill AFTER Halloween.
But IIRC is was first broken 2 years ago when Tesco and the list have X-Mass crap up before they even got Halloween up and it seen to be getting earlier each year since...

I blame the government moving the budget forward....

Demand from Brown Thomas management to increase turover by whatever pathetic means in a time of reduced consumer spending...

LOL, I was passing Brown Thomas in Limerick on Monday (the first of September) and I commented (as a joke) that we'd probably be seeing Christmas decorations by the end of the week. Now that it's come true, I no longer find it funny! Advertising/Consumerism annoys me.

BTs probably want to get theirs in and sold before everyone realises you can buy exactly the same elsewhere for 10% of the price.

    I want Holly Willoughby.

    I loved that ad :)

I do admit to loving shops that have a Christmas section all year long.

I'm ashamed to admit that I worked in the BT Christmas shop a couple of years ago and they opened it in September then too.
It ruined Christmas for me, I still can't listen to most of the usual Christmas jingles without shuddering a little

What are they selling already Mike? Does this not really annoy anyone? It's rediculous how early it is. Surely there must be some way of getting businesses to hold off until closer to december.

Does anyone actually care? Is there someone we can moan too?

I didn't see anyone complaining when clothes shops started selling their summery clothing in March / April, and our Summer never even happened!

    :pac:

Well, people are always bitchin' about the lack of forward planning in this country - maybe we should welcome BT's foresight. :-p

Harrods have been selling christmas stuff since beginning of August.
Although suppose they are aiming it mainly at tourists.

My Mam owns a small gift shop and she usually puts her Christmas stock out at the end of October. But if other gift shops in the area put their stock out earlier, then she'll have no choice but to put hers out at the same time. Otherwise, people will have bought enough at the other places.

We all complain about shops putting out Christmas stock this early, but if people weren't buying it at this time then they wouldn't be selling it. So there must be some people who actually do buy little bits for Christmas this early!!

I really feel sorry for peole working in these shops. Christmas music on a loop for nearly 4 months can't be good for their mental health.
