    Hi Lads and Lassies

I've just recently started writing a music/ film review blog. There's not much on it at the moment- Film- In Bruges, Albums- Conor Oberst, Brian Eno/ David Byrne, Weezer- but if you'd like to take a look, it would be great.

    Cheers,

    Quincy.

Nice review of the red album, it's fairly easy to spot what went wrong with weezer; they sacked Matt Sharp, he complimented Rivers' writing so much the two just brought out the best in each other.

I just had a quick glance through the reviews - you have a nice writing style.

Just by way of some suggested improvements, you might want to consider sticking a few images in there, the odd youtube link and a header banner etc. These break up 'the wall of text' that may otherwise detour readers. Added to these suggestions, it would be a very good idea to try and get yourself listed in one or - better still - many of the blog aggregators out there.

    Thanks!

Yeah, very valid point. Christ, I'll always love the band, but the first two albums aside, they've become predictable and static. Very annoying!

Best of luck with it. Just by way of improvement, you might want to stick a few images in there, the odd youtube link and a banner etc.

Cheers for advice, I'll most certainly look into it.:)

Edit- Just read the rest of your edited post. Thanks for the kind comments regarding my style. The points you've touched upon, I had noted, but since I'm new to this blog lark, I'm not entirely aware of how I go about changing it's face. I shall, of course, look into it.

    Ta.

I've been threatening to start up a music blog for years now and, amongst all the aborted attempts, I've picked up a little - just a little - knowledge of how these things work. Personally, I would go with Wordpress over Blogspot.

I've found that the templates are a little more user friendly and, if you happen to know anything about html, you are free to alter them to suit your needs. They also offer handy widgets (bespoke programs such as pop-up media players etc) that can be attached to really enhance your blog. As a bonus they are also free.

Though you start of with a free storage of 3 GB, you can also purchase extra storage - 5, 10, 25 GB - which will allow you to upload and host mp3's and other files, something not available in the initial free 3 GB sign-up. You can also register your domain name with them. So, for example, you could register hownearhowfar.com or shadowplay.com (assuming they aren't already taken). This will drop the nasty blogspot.com/ wordpress.com at the end of your address. I seem to remember a total price of $55 for 5 GB storage (including the 3 GB you start off with) and registration of your domain.

I don't work for wordpress, btw :pac:

Finally, do you see the bookmarks down at the end of this page? Digg, Del.icio.us, StumbleUpon? Those are the type of sites that you should be attempting to get your blog listed upon. If you are offering music, you should also look at getting listed upon sites like www.hypem.com or www.audio-feed.net.

Wow, some excellent advice, FC, thanks.

Well, I've just pottered around with it for a few minutes, and have managed to stick a few images up on it. Feel free to have a gander. :)

Good stuff! I've hopped on the blog wagon myself (see sig).

Out of interest, what amount of traffic do you get?

Put your blog/website in your sig, don't start a thread to create awareness of it. That's not one of this site's purposes.

    Thanks.
