    Hi Folks,

I heard last night that there is a new casino with poker tables after opening up in Ballybunion, Co. Kerry. Anyone got any details about the poker played there? Any tournement schedule, who's running it, what are the expected numbers etc.

Ballybunion isn't exactly a large town. How do they expect to sustain a casino

    Thanks in advance

    ZOMG LOL!

This can't be true. You know yourself Dingle if there is a cardroom there it's going to be a shambolic disgrace run by a bunch of muckers.

If you were for some crazy reason to open a casino in Ballybunion why do it now when the summer season is over??

I think its been well proven at this stage that the market cant sustain this many casinos. Every redneck cowboy in the country now wants a piece of the action with the result that nearly all of them are struggling to keep afloat. The sooner the better this industry is regulated.

Rumour has it that it was closed by the fire officer on opening night. I wasn't there myself, but thats what I'm told.

The guy I was talking to played there, I assume on the opening night, said it was fairly nice. He didn't mention anything about the Fire Officer though I guess it may have happened after he left

I think he said the guy running the poker (maybe the owner) was a guy who has been running a regular game in tralee (in Austin Stacks??)

Sorry for not getting on to Boards to explain the situation in BallyB ladz. Firstly I own the company which has been engaged to operate in the Golf Hotel and anyone that knows me knows that I am not a cowboy or a mucker. I have operated a game in Tralee for over three years where the players have had the best value in the county - tickets to Paddy Power, WSOP tickets, Ladbrokes tickets, players leagues, no reg, minimum rake, new games, dealers, etc -. I will admit that when we started the game it was mainly as an income stream into the Clubhouse Bar with no intention to grow the game to its curent level, but like the rest of ye the bug bit and I have been obsessed with Poker since. In total according to my records the amount of prize money given out in the Austin Stacks Club since I took it over is approaching 750K, which undelines our commitment to our regular players.

The situation on last friday which was to be a charity benefit night in order to train our dealers and test our systems was that the fire officer threatened to withdraw the fire cert for the hotel if we opened the new function room, this situation arose from the County Council being forced into some sort of action due to the adverse publicity on the Joe Duffy Show on the day and the GTD tournament was run in the bar with the GTD amount paid out.

Some of your contributors have played in games run by me and as far as I can remember there have never been any complaints other than the usual bad beat and bad play stories. You of course get into speculation as to why the casino is being opened in a rural backwater as ye describe it but that is a business decision made by the owners and this is not the place to outline their reasons.

I can only assure anyone on here that I intend to run the games there from the perspective of the player as I am a player myself and I know what I want as a player and that is what will be offered i.e. value.

When we do open I invite ye to come down and see what we have to offer and please do not make decisions based on innuendo and rumour.

    Has this opened yet?

There are a few of us going to Listowel next weekend and wouldn't mind a casino evening.

    Maurice,

What have the Tralee games expanded to? Used to be one night a week in Stacks (poss a friday).

Can you put up a north Kerry schedule.
