    Hi Guys,

Hope someone can help me out here. Reciently purchased the Avermedia A700 (Analog and Digital) tuner. However I have been unable to get it to find any satellite channels. I can tune FM radio only. I purchased a signal meter but it dosent move at all when connected to the card and the LNB outside. Should the PCI card have enough power to power the LNB? I have installed the latest drivers and software from Avermedia site. To rule out an cable damage in the attic I even bought 12 meters of SAT cable and connect the LNB directly to the PC through the window to see of could get it working. The dish and LNB used tio be used for SKY when the previous tenants lived there. SKY box gone just the dish left outside.

    Any ideas/help much appreciated.

I think that card has an FM tuner as well as DVB-S
There are two diffrent inputs one for sat F-type (screw on connector) and one for FM normal Ariel connector. Make sure you use the F-Type input for Sat.

Also are you sure the Satellite is aligned properly. Wind may have moved it since previous tennents moved out.

    Hi emaherx,

It has an FM radio Input. An Analog TV input and a Digital. I am using the (screw in) Digital Input. Cable then running directly too LNB (on dish) out window. Should the Sat Finder not register at least something even if the dish is a little out of line? Im getting nothing. Not even a little movement. To me seems like the PCI card isnt giving out enough Power to the LNB. But then again Im very new to this so could be something else.

The tuner card should produce enough power to run the LNB.
Is the sat finder lit up? there should be a back light or LED depending on sat finder to indicate power.
Are you sure there are no shorts in the cable any where?
Is there a setting in your software to turn on/off LNB power?
Check your device manager to see if there is any devices with exclimation marks beside them.
Windows may threat your card as 3 or more devices, which may explain why the FM tuner works and not the SAT tuner.

The Sat Tuner Ligts up for 2 seconds when first connected. Then it goes flat and dosent move.

Shorts in ths cable? As in bends/kinks? Yup pretty sure. Bought some new cable and have it running from PCI card. Accross sitting room floor. Out window and into LNB.

The Avermedia software dosent have a setting for LNB power. Will double check though. Im using the Setting of Astra2 and 22K for the LNB.

Good point on the different decices. Will check that soon as get home. May very well be the problem however from memory the device manager showed all as being installed ok.

Is there a software install that shows on screen the Signal you are recieving?

No a short as in some of the copper braid is touching the inner core of the Coax cable, even a little bit can cause problems.

The fact that the sat meter lights up for a second and then goes out, sounds like there is a short some where.
If the sat meter is working correctly then the signal reading will increase/decrease when you twist the little knob regardless of whether you have a signal lock or not.

The software you have should have some kind of signal meter that shows up when you try to tune in a channel..
