    Hi All!!

    Hope you can help me.
I'm off to Bulgaria in 3 weeks for a weeks holiday. I am staying near Sunny Beach.

I was just wondering what sort of activities are there in the area? Also about renting a car, is there any point?

My OH's sister has an apartment out there, which is where we are staying. I love sun holidays but I wouldn't be one for lying out all day in it.
I like visiting places and that.

    Hope you can help!

    Regards
    05D

Where abouts near sunny beach? In 3 weeks time the resort(sunny beach) i would think will be very queit. Theres the 2 water parks, 1 in sunny beach and 1 in nessebar.. Burgas is a nice town( i love the place). Would def hire a car for 2 days and explore the coast southwards where its still not too commercialised, some places not at all. Seaside village of chernomorets:D, followed by Sozopol, which is the nicest place on the coast.

Thanks for that, not sure where exactly.

We are flying into Bourgas as far as I know it's walking distance from the Oasis?????

Would love to go visiting the small uncommercialized villages and that.

    Is it a safe place?

Sunny beach to me is full of people trying to rip you off, taxi drivers especially, watch where ye change your money too. Was over in a village called Chernomorets for 4 weeks in summer, its beside Sozopol. This village would be one of the least commercialised on the whole black sea coast i would reckon, and its where the bulgarians themselves go for holidays, that says something. Its worth a visit if you hire a car.

Are the roads dangerous over there? I heard they can be a bit mad!

Also what are the general Bulgarian's like? Are there many gypsys?

Drive over there all the time and find it ok, but ye, some of them are a bit mad but so are a good few drivers here. The road along coast is ok, dual carraigeway for about 20 miles south of Bourgas. If you head inland and go off the main roads expect to see some bunkers in the roads, they make pot holes look like heaven..
Gypsies, there scattered all over sunny beach, young kids begging money off you, sometimes even manhandling you which is pretty annoying. Then theres the gypsy girls looking to man handle you in a different kind of way;) but there all harmless unless you go out and get pissed, then you might get pickpocketed very handy by them.

I'm heading over with my BF, would they be man handling him even if I was there?

I was in bangkok before and that was happening, it drove me mad!!!

I get very intimidated by that.

No, not as bad here, mate was over with wife in sunny beach few weeks ago and when along with the wife, got no hassle at all, just when he was out with bro-in-law
